and Every year, a giant Progress Pride flag flies proudly in Downtown Bangor for Pride Month. After years of weathering the elements, our previous flag was ready for retirement, and in 2025 our community helped us begin something truly special with a new, large beautiful Progress Pride flag.
Those who donated in 2025 became part of The First Spark. Their names are on the flag in silver and no other names will ever be added in silver. The First Spark will live on forever.
In 2026, we are continuing the tradition. We are raising funds to support Bangor Pride by adding new names to the flag in a different color. Each year, names added will be in a new color, creating a growing, living record of community support over time!
For a minimum donation of $5, you can have a name added to the back of the flag in honor or memory of someone special to you. Names are applied with outdoor grade vinyl and become part of this powerful display of pride, love, and remembrance flying high in downtown Bangor. At checkout, under the payment options, there is a spot that says "Leave a message" where you can leave the name(s)!
